Program Introduction
SU Global is committed to providing accessible and affordable education opportunities and establishing a global community for successful industry leaders. The Global Doctor of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership program (GDOL) offers students and alumni a quality, innovative and engaging learning experience, as well as impactful extracurricular enrichments and networking opportunities. The program is designed to be a student-oriented, application-focused, and inquiry-driven upskilling learning platform that prepares leaders to master organizational complexity and change management.
GDOL is a sixty-credit doctoral degree program. Students are expected to earn a Master’s degree at a regionally or nationally accredited institution prior to entering this program.

Core Courses
There are five four-credit courses in total, 8 weeks for each unit. Each course contains 50 hours of learning, which is structured as below:
- 40% face-to-face classes
- 40% distance learning
- 20% self-direct study

Concentration
There are 18 credits in total for concentration, or restricted electives. Students graduated from regionally accredited universities can waive 9 credits of concentration. The remaining 9 credits can be selected from the following list of management courses:

Residency
The program residency consists of in-person seminars, lecture series, and presentations by industry leaders. Based on individual interests and logistics, students can select the classes that work best for them. Students can participate in residency any time during their study. Doctoral Thesis
This is the last phase of the doctoral program, which begins with proposing the research topic and concludes with the completion of thesis after a successful oral defense. Students at this stage of the program will be enrolled in the following courses:

Each student will be paired up with a faculty mentor early in the program. This faculty will serve as the thesis advisor for the student, providing necessary consultations and supervision for research as well as approval for the thesis topic. The faculty-student pair meets regularly throughout the course of doctoral thesis research. The doctoral thesis includes a thorough literature review, a solid model building, quality data collection and analysis, and impactful applications. The thesis topic is expected to be applicable to the student’s profession.
A group of three professors will form the doctoral thesis committee: the thesis advisor, GDOL Program Faculty Director, and SU Global Head or a qualified faculty approved by SU Global. Once the thesis is near completion, the doctoral candidate will make an oral presentation in front of the thesis committee. The committee will vote on the thesis to decide if the research meets the requirements for graduation.

About Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was founded in 1896. As one of the higher education institutions which enjoy a long history and a world-renowned reputation in China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), is a key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People’s Republic of China and co-constructed by MOE and Shanghai Municipal Government.
It is among the first universities of the“211 project” and the “985 project”. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) was ever regarded as the “Oriental MIT” during 1940s, and now is ranked“ Top 4” in China since 2006. Through unremitting efforts for nearly 120 years, SJTU has become a comprehensive, research-oriented, and internationalized top university in China.
While there is no official agreement between the two institutions, Shenandoah University does hire outstanding professors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University to teach alongside its faculty in the GET-MBA program.
