Community Outreach at SU
The Center for Civic Engagement offers many ways for you to be a part of our community through fun service opportunities such as tutoring, building homes and sharing your skills.
We can connect you with many agencies in our community for service-learning opportunities and community engagement. Shenandoah University students and athletic teams are working in our community to improve the lives of others. We have placed students in the Boys and Girls Club and the Salvation Army, among other agencies, to assist in various projects.
Volunteers are needed with the following types of projects:
- landscaping projects
- reading to preschool children
- organizing offices
- gardening
- documenting all service projects
- working in schools
- food drives
- staffing thrift shops
- organizing singing projects at local schools or day care centers
- projects at assisted living or nursing homes
- organizing blood drives
- car wash fundraisers
- volunteering at animal shelters
